Flores Beats Down The Body Of Olivo For A Quick Stoppage
Bantamweight Manuel “Gucci” Flores (19-1, 14KO) made a statement with a first-round stoppage over Victor Olivo (21-5-1, 9KO).
After suffering his first defeat at the hands of Walter Santibanes in 2023, Gucci’s been a different fighter. He has taken things more seriously and has shown major improvement.
From the opening bell, it was lion versus lamb, as Flores went on the attack early behind the jab. He landed a painful counter left hand on the liver that put Olivo in retreat mode.
Without hesitation, he landed two more hard body shots sending the Mexican crumbling to the canvas. Flores was awarded the stoppage victory after the referee counted out Olivo.
It was the performance Flores needed, as he has now scored four straight knockout stoppages. During the post-fight interview, he expressed a desire to challenge for a world title. He may not be ready for a title shot but they should aim at facing someone within the top ten of the rankings next.
