Mauricio Sulaimán slams tampered gloves claim!

WBC president Mauricio Sulaimán has come out and slammed the accusations hurled Tyson Fury’s (30-0-1, 23KOs) way regarding the use of alleged tampered gloves. Marsellos Wilder, the younger brother of former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (42-1-1, 41KOs), recently took to the social and made claims that his brother suffered injuries that wouldn’t be from use of a regular pair of gloves.

Back in February, Fury handed Wilder his first career defeat and took his coveted green belt in the process. It was completely one-sided, resulting in the former champ being stopped in the seventh round.

WBC PRESIDENT SLAMS ACCUSATIONS!

Mauricio Sulaimán told Sky Sports the following:

“It’s ridiculous, it’s hard to understand. I was present at both fights. I was in the dressing rooms in both fights, both Fury and Wilder’s dressing rooms. In both cases, both of their gloves were inspected by at least three inspectors. Their gloves were inspected by the trainer of the other team and by WBC officials. I was there before, during and after the fights. I saw them with gloves and the hand wraps. At no moment before, during or after either was there anything that looked suspicious whatsoever. And after the fight, they take their gloves off and hand them to the commission who inspects them.”

“It’s very sad because to try and take away from such a huge victory, one of the greatest nights in the sport in the century, and try to put a blemish on that event is so irresponsible and so stupid. It should not be given any consideration.”

This accusation just gives Fury more to talk about when these two men get reacquainted in the near future. This will no doubt be a talking point leading up to their third fight. Interesting enough, Deontay Wilder hasn’t been outspoken on this topic. Whether or not he directed his brother to say such a thing, or was it Marsellos’s decision alone, the elder Wilder is a big name in the sport and will have to answer those tough questions.

It’ll be interesting to see what he has to say when he decides to speak.
