Micahel Williams Jr Becomes Adrien Broner’s 4th Opponent For Return Bout!

Multi-divisional world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner (34-4-1, 24KO) has changed opponents for a fourth time for his return bout. Now he will be taking on Michael “Boy Wonder” Williams Jr. (20-1, 13KO) in a welterweight showdown February 25.

The Problem was M.I.A all of 2022! He was supposed to fight former WBC lightweight champion Omar Figueroa on August 20, 2022. However, Broner pulled out days before the event citing mental health Issues.

Next, came news he was returning to the ring on the BLK Prime streaming app in a fight against Ivan Redkach on February 18. This time, Redkach pulled out due to issues with promoter Joe DeGuardia.

Broner was given another opponent for the expected comeback in “Hammerin” Hank Lundy with a new fight date of February 25. If you are reading this and started shaking your head, you’ve already guessed what happened.

BRONER HAS CHANGED OPPONENTS AGAIN?!

It seems a fight with Lundy has been scrapped, as Team Williams Jr took to social media claiming to be fighting Broner instead.

Father/Manager Michael Williams Sr posts about the his son being Broner’s new opponent.

Boy Wonder had been a wildcard for sometime under the tutelage of Roy Jones Jr. Then in December 2021, he suffered a surpise knockout loss to prospect John Bauza in his first nationally televised event. After taking some time off, Williams Jr. returned to score a victory against journeyman Julio Buitrago in April 2022. This is the biggest opportunity of his career, and a victory over Broner would be a huge boost moving forward.

Broner is plagued with bad luck having to change opponents this many times. It has been almost two years since his time in the ring against Jovanie Santiago on February 2021. For the love of God, let us pray this will be the final opponent change!
