Jessica Nery Plata Wants A Showdown with Unified Champ Seniesa Estrada!
On January 13, Jessica Nery Plata (29-2, 3KO) walked away as a unified light flyweight champion after wrestling the WBC title from the clutches of Kim Clavel (16-1, 3KO). Looking down the road for bigger opportunities, Plata is interested in fighting unified minimumweight champion Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada (23-0, 9KO).
Plata stunned the boxing world by handing Clavel her first career defeat. Moreover, some boxing fans are already calling their epic battle an early candidate for Fight of the Year. Plata has been riding high since defeating Yesica Yoland Bopp, capturing her first world title in March 2022.
THE UNIFIED CHAMPION WANTS TO FIGHT ESTRADA
According to the WBA, Plata has her sights on conquering the American market and landing a fight with Estrada.
“I would like to fight Seniesa Estrada. We know it’s a lower division, but that’s the good thing, to get to the United States.”
Plata may have to pump the brakes on fighting Estrada anytime soon. Super Bad is pushing for undisputed, starting with a unification against WBC champion Tina Rupprecht before a showdown with unified champion Yokasta Valle. However, even short of the desired bout with Estrada, the boxing community can expect the unified champion to continue seeking big fights on the horizon.
