Jessica Nery Plata Wants To Become Undisputed at 108

Newly crowned unified light flyweight champion Jessica Nery Plata (29-2, 3KO) is sitting comfortably in the driver’s seat with undisputed on the horizon. When the unified champion walked out of Canada with added jewelry after defeating former WBC champion Kim Clavel, it set off a chain of events that can lead to an undisputed clash later in the year.

According to the WBA, one of Plata’s goals is to capture all the titles at light flyweight.

“We have two championships, and obviously I would like to have the other two. I would like to face whoever has them.”

WHAT IS NEXT FOR PLATA?

The Mexican champion could get a chance at undisputed soon. Former unified champion Evelin Bermudez will face Tania Enriquez for the vacant WBO and IBF titles on March 10. This was made possible when Yokasta Valle, who defeated Bermudez, created a void by vacated the title.

As previously mentioned, Bermudez lost the titles to Valle in November 2022. The Argentinian would like nothing more than to regain the titles and push towards undisputed.

A victory by Enriquez could lead to a massive rivalry fight considering Plata defeated Enriquez’s older sister, Kenia Enriquez, in 2017. Fans would pack the stadium to see the two fighters from Mexico trade leather in the ring for undisputed honors.

Women’s boxing is continuing to shine as early signs point to them having another great year.
