Jai Opetaia Dices Up Brandon Glanton & Looks To Be Undisputed!

Newly crowned Zuffa champion Jai Opetaia (30-0, 23 KO’s) secured a firm unanimous decision win over a very game Brandon “Bulletproof” Glanton (21-4, 18 KO’s). However, where he goes from here is up in the air.

Very early in the match, it was evident that Opetaia was the far more polished fighter. This manifested in the his ability to seamlessly provide tricky angles and plant thudding shots all the while weaving from mid-range to in-fighting. For his part, even though often a step too slow, Glanton continued to trudge forward and throw meaningful shots in an earnest effort to secure the win. His overall efforts fell woefully short.

Unfortunately, outside of the deficit in skillset, Bulletproof also had to contend with a very, very vocal referee in Allen Huggins. Huggins opted to interject himself at a ferocious pace through the entire contest. This was frustrating because there appeared to be little need for it.

Even worse, Huggins would deduct a total of three points, two from Glanton and one for Opetaia, before the fight’s conclusion. Glanton would have the honor of finishing the duel on his feet. However, he did absorb a sound drubbing.

During his post-fight interview, Opetaia stated that his main focus was to become undisputed under the umbrella of the four major sanctioning bodies. As things stand though, that won’t gel with is new charge as Zuffa world champion.

This jockeying for position between Zuffa and the sanctioning bodies is quite literally altering the fabric of modern boxing. In Dana White’s vision, this also could be the first death knell of the symbolic importance of the sanctioning bodies’ titles. Stay tuned and let’s find out!
