Osleys Iglesias Floors and Stops Petro Ivanov in 5
In latest tour of duty, super middleweight boxer Osleys “El Tornado” Iglesias (13-0, 12 KO’s) beat Petro Ivanov (18-1-2, 13 KO’s) in an efficient fifth round knockout.
Following a somewhat choppy first round, the southpaw Cuban deftly moved around the rather small ring and ambushed in random attacks. His long arms, tight guard and nimble feet generally kept him out of range of any significant return-fire that Ivanov offered.
Iglesias went to the body early and remained faithful to the torso torment and his jab through the contest. Yet, it was a pair of uppercuts early in the third period that first buzzed the Ukrainian. Despite clearly being in distress, Ivanov survived the scare and ended the period looking sturdy enough. It was a short-lived victory.
After being picked-apart throughout the fourth, Ivanov was dropped at the very top of the fifth round. Iglesias accomplished this with a right hook and thudding straight left. The nifty combination put Ivanov on his back. The felled fighter quickly got to his knee, wisely used the whole eight count and easily beat ten. Despite this referee, Albert Padulo Jr. had seen enough and called a halt to the action.
