Shawn Porter Wants Manny Pacquiao After Errol Spence!
WBC welterweight champion “Showtime” Shawn Porter (30-2, 17KO) has a tough task in trying to become a unified champion against IBF champion Errol “The Truth” Spence (25-0, 21KO).
However, the 31-year old Ohio native has his sights on future Hall of Fame inductee and current WBA champion Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao. The WBC champion feels extremely confident going into the upcoming unification bout and, if victorious, wants the living legend next.
When asked about that fight in an interview with FightHype, the rough and rugged fighter gave candid answers.
“I’m just looking at the grand scheme of things and I think that had it been, Thurman we would be looking at Thurman again. We’re obviously specifically looking at that WBA title and looking at who’s holding it right now.”
“A performance I’m going to put on [against Spence] and then you go out of that and the next challenge is Manny Pacquiao.”
That indeed is a big fight and a challenge on a whole other level. Pacquiao proved that there is still a blazing fire in the furnace with an impressive performance against then-WBA champion Keith Thurman. The living legend left the boxing community in awe, winning the title back in July.
Given their come-forward, take-no-prisoner styles, the match would be a treat for fans. Plus, it would bring us one step closer to an undisputed welterweight champion since Zab “Super” Judah in 2005. However, let’s pump our brakes because the odds-makers feel the WBC champion is a serious underdog in the upcoming blockbuster Pay-Per-View.
Porter’s confidence is what we like to see in all of our champions. Although, just a little warning, the sport is filled with stories of epic failures of guys looking too far ahead instead of being focused on the challenge in front of them.
The champion vs champion bout takes place September 28 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on FOX Pay-Per-View.

I like Shawn Porter, but even if he beats Errol Spence, I think he should have to fight Crawford before getting in on the Manny sweepstakes. That goes for Errol Spence as well. As fans we deserve to see the best of this generation face off. Right now Manny is clearly the cash cow @147. But Manny is also a legend, Hall of Fame fighter, and shouldbe given his pick of the litter, when it comes to big fights or what fighters he feels like putting over. Sure Manny could go ahead an fight Errol, Crawford or Porter. But other than unification, whats in it for Manny? I think Errol, Crawford and Porter need to unify the three belts they have, making one other title holder outside of Manny, then challenge Manny. If Errol Beats Porter, then Beats Crawford, holds 3 belts, then there is something in it for Manny. Then we are talking about a Undisputed Unification fight. Manny, as great as he is, has never been an undisputed unified champion. Lets say Crawford beats Errol, has 3/4 belts, then a fight with Manny for the 4th belt could make Crawford a two weight Undisputed Unified Champion. Who the hell has ever done that? Armstrong maybe? So thats what I think should happen if any of these youngguns want a crack at Manny. Unify the other 3 belts, earn the big payday. Now that Manny has easily wrecked one of the so called top fighters of this generation, Thurman, I dont think the others should just be handed a shot at him. In the meantime Manny can take a stay busy fight with either Danny or Mikey Garcia. Manny beats either one of them, so no big deal. Tell me what you guys think about Errol vs Porter winner having to face Crawford next with the winner then getting a shot at Manny. Not only is that their biggest payday, it ends up being a chance at Undisputed Lineal Champion, and probably P4P #1 fighter in the world. If Manny were smart, he would force this so he can also have a chance at finally becoming Undisputed champion. Something Floyd Mayweather never did. Ever, in any weight class. Too afraid to fight the other title holders. King cherry picker
