Dillian Whyte Talks Upcoming Title Fight with Tyson Fury

In terms of his upcoming April 23 dance date, Dillian “The Body Snatcher” Whyte (28-2, 19 KO’s) is more than ready for his title shot. Some might find this somewhat hard to believe because throughout the pre-fight hype, Whyte has remained harder to find than Jimmy Hoffa’s bones.

Instead of upholding his half of the promotional obligations, The Body Snatcher has left those duties completely on the shoulders of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (31-0-1, 22 KO’s). Despite this dereliction of duty, Whyte firmly believes that his name value alone has done a great deal to help sell tickets to the impending brawl.

“This is business, this is not the Tyson Fury show! Everybody is saying Tyson Fury this, Tyson Fury that. If Tyson Fury was such a big star [why] he didn’t sell any tickets with Deontay Wilder? It’s a fact! His fights have never sold out. So this is not the Tyson Fury show, this show is sold out because it’s me and Tyson Fury. He fought Wilder and Wilder is a bigger star than me and those shows never sold out. So it’s not just the Tyson Fury show, it’s the Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte show obviously, at the end of the day.”

HOWEVER IT COMES

Regardless of how he has liked, or disliked, the way the bout has been talked about, Whyte is ready to shake up the division. If he is able to topple the garrulous champion, The Body Snatcher would be exceedingly happy due to knowing where he came from.

“Listen man, this would mean everything to me. I’m a guy that was a kid with no future, education, no family, I’m a survivor. I’ve been in the streets since I was a child…so for someone like me to come from where I’ve come from and to be heavyweight champion of the world, to me that is true inspiration!”

“[…] but I am under no illusion, I don’t go around saying I am the greatest, I’m this, that and the other. Listen, I know what I am, I know what I bring and I’ve got enough pain and frustration to take out on someone and it’s going to be Tyson Fury! So, lets go!”

While he is dialed into this upcoming duel though, Whyte does admit that he is clueless as to how the fight will play out.

“I don’t know what is going to happen man, I don’t know! The bell might go and I might just start fucking having it in the first round, or the bell might go and he might be a bit trickier or I might be trickier than he expected. It’s one of those fights that you have to keep adapting and keep changing. Keep adapting to my situation and my surroundings, or that’s what I feel anyways. So we try to cover every bases.”
