Andre Dirrell Gives Deontay Wilder Some Advice!

Multiple world super middleweight title contender Andre “The Resurrected” Dirrell (29-3, 19KO) didn’t mince words when it came to his opinion on Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder’s performance against Joseph Parker. The former WBC heavyweight champion was dominated over twelve rounds as the former WBO champ returned to New Zealand with a reinvigorated career. Shortly after the loss, Wilder took to instagram and stated he did not know what happened. However, Dirrell seems to have the answer!

YOU’RE NOT A BOXER BRO!

Whether you agree with Dirrell or not, there’s no mistaking the difference in Wilder’s approach against Parker. The idea to box, which trainer and former Wilder victim, Malik Scott is receiving high criticism for, clearly did not work. The last time he implemented a boxing style and leaned more on athleticism over raw power was when he lifted the title off Bermane Stiverne in their first meeting in 2015. Although, the level of competition will always be a heated topic in determining the authenticity of his title reign, the flat-footed, brawling style boded well for Wilder for each successful title defense thereafter.

With that said, reverting back to the “old Wilder” may not have worked either. Sure, more straight rights would have been thrown, but Parker did an excellent job of slipping that shot when they did come his way. Also, the Kiwi was able to take the ones that did land. Therefore, how much of a difference would the “brawling” version of Wilder have made? Maybe Parker, as current WBC champ Tyson Fury showed, always had the tools to overcome Wilder’s power. One thing is for certain, Wilder’s chances of winning by knockout would have dramatically increased!
