Cruiserweight Prospect Soslan Asbarov is Moving Up Quickly
In boxing, you will see instances of fighters being moved swiftly up the ranks. The latest example of this practice is Russian cruiserweight Soslan “Cobra” Asbarov (4-0, 1 KO), who has quite a unique story.
Asbarov fights in traditional professional boxing and Hardcore Boxing, a Russian bareknuckling fighting league. The native of Moscow put his hand in pro boxing in February 2022. To say he’s on the fast track is an understatement.
ON THE ASCENT
In only his second fight as a pro in September 2022, the Cobra scored an eight-round unanimous decision victory over former world cruiserweight title challenger Dmitry Kudryashov. It was a noteworthy performance that put pundits on notice.
The last outing for Asbarov was a ten-round majority decision victory over Brandon Glanton on March 18 in Dubai. Entering that contest, Glanton was ranked twelfth by the WBO.
3Kings Boxing has seen Cobra in action. He’s very athletic and can fight effectively as an orthodox or southpaw. Asbarov has above-average hand speed for a cruiserweight, is solid defensively, and is an excellent counterpuncher.
With his win over Glanton, look for Cobra to appear in the world rankings soon. Cruiserweight is not the deepest of divisions. So, if he keeps winning and developing, it’s conceivable that he could be in line for a world title shot within the next twelve months. At this rate, Asbarov is someone worth keeping an eye on.
