Gilberto Ramirez to face Tom Karpency in his light heavyweight debut

Presumed WBO super middleweight champion, Gilberto Ramirez (39-0, 25KO) previously made his decision to move to light heavyweight on the under-card of Vasiliy Lomachenko vs Anthony Crolla. 3kingsboxing.com has now learned he will face former world title contender, Tommy Karpency (29-6-1, 18KO).

As the WBO super middleweight champion, Ramirez made five title defenses. His most recent defense, a rematch against Jesse Hart in December 2018.

Karpency is riding a three-fight win-streak since suffering a knockout loss to Oleksandr Gvozdyk. In his lone world title opportunity, he was stopped by then WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson, losing that fight by third round knockout in 2015.

This fight may be a prelude to an even bigger opportunity against WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev sometime later this year!
