Richardson Hitchins Gets the Win Over a Ferocious Gustavo Lemos
For his latest showdown, it appears that super lightweight fighter Richardson Hitchins (18-0, 7 KO’s) was awarded a shaky unanimous decision victory. This is due to the spirited and relentless attack of Argentinian Gustavo “El Electrico” Lemos (29-1, 19 KO’s).
In the early rounds, Hitchins was able to shine brightly boxing, sticking and moving, and utilizing the ring. The much shorter Lemos was not able to land a variety of shots with any real consistency; although his left hook was beginning a romance with Hitchins’ chin. During the middle rounds, the fight flattened out as El Electrico dug into the Brooklyn native’s body with acute ferocity.
In the latter rounds, both men took turns looking tired and moving around to catch their breath. Yet, of the two, it was Lemos who revved up the quickest and with the most flare with greater frequency. This was underscored greatly by the maddening amount of holding that Hitchins was able to get away with. In fact, Hitchins spent the greater part of the eleventh and twelfth rounds on his bike with a perplexed countenance.
When all was said and done, and the scorecards were read, Hitchins was awarded the win with scores of 117-111, 115-113, and 115-113. While Hitchins got the win and remained undefeated, he will likely get far more flack for this performance than praise.
