Diego Pacheco Remains Undefeated by Outworking McCalman
In his latest call of duty, super middleweight fighter Diego Pacheco (21-0, 17 KO’s) worked hard for a unanimous decision victory. The adversary that made him work so arduous was Shawn McCalman (15-1, 7 KO’s).
To start the duel, McCalman found notable success using a herky-jerky, freeze and pounce style to routinely catch Pacheco off guard. As the fight wore on, Pacheco began adapting to the tactic, forcing McCalman to try a new attack.
Unfortunately for McCalman, he didn’t have another significant gear or meaningful tactic to employ. As a result, The Amazing began holding and leading his head with increasing regularity.
For his part, Pacheco increased his volume and was finding success with the uppercuts. As the fight went into the later rounds, he even forced McCalman against the ropes and landed hard right-hand shots. Realizing his opponent was beginning to succumb to the pressure, the Californian started attacking with even more vigor. For having navigated the tricky and roughhouse stratagem of McMalman, Pacheco was awarded the unanimous decision win to the tune of 98-92, 97-93, and 96-94.
This was a solid win for the undefeated WBC and WBO minor title holder. Pacheco may need to improve his inside fighting game, but he proved that if necessary he can get down and dirty.
