Eddy Reynoso Runs Afoul of VADA with Yet Another Fighter
Trainer Eddy Reynoso is under fire after another one of his fighters’ adverse findings by VADA – Francisco “Chihuas” Rodriguez. Rodriguez is coming off a huge upset victory over flyweight Galal Yafai on June 21.
The news of the Mexicans’ post-fight test results was made public by Matchroom Boxing via social media.
This sent shockwaves throughout boxing as pundits and fans listed the names of fighters who have failed under Reynoso. Canelo Alvarez, Jaime Munguia, Julio Cesar Martinez, Luis Nery, Ryan Garcia, Oscar Valdez, and Rodriguez. No longer can this be viewed as a coincidence. The sport can’t standby and do nothing.
This news comes a few months after Munguia failed a banned substance test. At this point, Reynoso or his supporters cannot hide behind the ‘he’s just a trainer’ narrative. It’s hard to believe, with seven fighters testing positive, that he knows absolutely nothing.
In this author’s opinion, Reynoso’s trainer’s license should be revoked while an investigation is being conducted. This is unacceptable and a strong message needs to be sent. The integrity of the sport is at stake.
