Charlie Edwards Gets the Upset in the O2
Well ladies and gentlemen we have an upset!
Charlie Edwards the underdog heading into his matchup with WBC flyweight champion Cristofer Rosales put on a terrific display of boxing ability.
In the early portion of this fight, we saw both men come out strong trying to set the tone early. Body shots were traded by both men. Really tough rounds to score early on.
By the time the fourth round Edwards had found his rhythm. He successfully beat Rosales to the punch repeatedly. In addition, he had success countering the aggressive Rosales throughout the duration of this fight.
A clash of heads in the seventh round opened up a nasty cut in the center of Edwards forehead. This however had no effect on the bout.
The last quarter of the fight were split as Rosales was able to temporarily build up momentum. He appeared to win rounds nine and ten. He landed some hard punishing shots to the head and body.
Edwards would bounce back and close the final two rounds of the fight. Capping off what would be his first word title victory.
Edwards would be crowned the winner by unanimous decision. The scores read 118-110, 117-111, and 116-112.
