Andy Ruiz aims to be “slimmer” for Anthony Joshua rematch!
After weighing in at 268 pounds for the first fight with Anthony Joshua, Andy Ruiz who pulled the colossal upset, is looking to top that performance!
To do so, he’s planning on coming in much lighter in order to increase his stamina, speed and agility.
In an interview with USA Today, Ruiz revealed his weight loss plans.
“I’d love to be at 250, 255 but just be fit and be solid. Now that I have the right team behind me and the right equipment and all that, I think it’s going to work out for my benefit and it’s going to work out in my favor.”
It’s good to hear that Ruiz knows in order to maintain his spot at the top of the division, he’s going to have to get in much better shape. The road will only get tougher for him if he gets by Joshua in the rematch.
With the likes of WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk, Luis Ortiz and many other contenders in the division, he’ll have stay focused and in shape if he wants to continue his reign as unified champion.
