Tina Rupprecht Lines Up Unification Options with Rocio Gaspar Win
On December 10, WBC minimumweight champion Tina “Tiny Tina” Rupprecht (12-0-1, 3KO) got the win over challenger Rocio “La Bebe” Gaspar (12-1, 3KO). The WBC champion can now look towards unification, but against who?
The minimumweight division has the eyes of the boxing community upon it. This is due to one fight that fans are talking about between two-divisional champion Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada (23-0, 9KO) and two-divisional unified champion Yokasta Valle (27-2, 9KO).
Rupprecht has been the target of both champions as the division is closing in on labeling an undisputed champion. Super Bad mentioned the name of the WBC champion after observing Valle take the unified junior flyweight title from Evelin Bermudez.
RUPPRECHT WILL HAVE TO TRAVEL FOR THE UNIFICATION
Valle has an extra incentive to fight Tiny Tina as they have a shared history. In 2018, the unified champion was defeated by Rupprecht in a battle for the interim title. On September 8, she became a unified champion after defeating former WBO champion Thi Thu Thi Nguyen and immediately called for undisputed.
Tiny Tina is the longest-reigning champion in the division. She first won the title by defeating Niorkis Carreno in 2018. She remains somewhat of an unknown in the boxing community partly due to inactivity and fighting mainly in her country of Germany.
Rupprecht has only fought outside of her country once. She undoubtedly will be forced to travel for a big fight with either Valle or Estrada.
