Ryan Garcia Goes Personal to Goad Tank Into a Rematch

If all goes as planned, junior welterweight boxer “King Ry” Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KO’s) will clash with WBC 140-pound champion Devin Haney on April 20. Despite the impending duel however, King Ry continues to display that his attention is spread out over many things. In his latest round of social media posts, Garcia expressed his persisting desire to rematch WBA lightweight champion Abdul “Tank” Wahid (29-0, 27 KO’s).

At the present moment, Garcia is only one bout removed from his seventh round TKO loss to Tank. Understandably, King Ry would love to get his shot at revenge. Yet, it does not appear that Tank is anywhere near as interested.

LOOKING A LITTLE SUS

Just as Team Garcia took digs at Bill Haney’s criminal past and accused Devin Haney of using PED’s, King Ry took shots at Tank for his activities outside the ring. Whether he believes his words or not, Garcia essentially labeled Tank a homosexual in an overtly passive-aggressive manner. Naturally, this has a high likelihood of enraging Tank and spurring on more comments and online bickering. Whether it turns into an actual fight, we’ll just have to see.

With every passing day, Garcia’s non-stop river of unpredictable, concerning and outlandish posts and statements continue to seemingly put the Haney bout in jeopardy. His posts, such as this one to Tank, also suggest that he is far from focused on his next prizefight with the WBC 140-pound champion. Only time will tell.

Currently, industry scuttlebutt believes that Tank will next test his might against Frank Martin. However, no credible person on either team has confirmed this. It is highly unlikely that Wahid changes his mind and decides to hop up and dance with King Ry at 140 pounds. Nevertheless, we’ll just have to stay tuned because you never know what will happen in boxing next!
