Garcia’s Legal Team Says Golden Boy’s Lawsuit Is Running Afoul of Their Own Terms
The turbulent times with super lightweight fighter “King” Ryan Garcia (23-1, 19 KO’s) and Golden Boy Promotions (GBP) have just gotten a bit choppier. Shortly after Garcia suffered his first professional defeat at the hands of Gervonta Davis, Golden Boy would sue him for breach of contract. This was made all the more bitter due to a lingering controversy revolving around Golden Boy’s overall absence and lack of support directly after the fight.
To respond to the lawsuit, as reported by Marca, King Ryan has gotten with his legal advisors who have now thrown a counterpunch of their own. In short, Garcia’s lawyers have alleged that GBP’s lawsuit in and of itself is a violation of their own contract. Apparently, there is verbiage that says any internal disputes should be handled in private mediation and not aired out in the court system.
“Ironically, the lawsuit itself constitutes a violation of the very agreement Golden Boy seeks to enforce.”

IS THIS THE FINAL CROSSROAD?
This is not the first time that Ryan Garcia has traded public words with GBP. As 3Kings Boxing reported, King Ryan very notoriously made a big fuss about his contract while arguing his worth four years ago. This latest legal episode is not the only poor memory bubbling back up either.
One of the darkest chapters in his young career was the fiasco that ensued when Team Garcia promised a fight with eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao was next. Of course, as time has recorded, this match never materialized and Garcia was branded the boy who cried wolf for quite some time.
So it should be no surprise that when GBP founder Oscar De La Hoya revived this potential fight, Garcia quickly shot it down. With all the legal feuding, it would not be a terrible surprise to hear that Garcia and Golden Boy Promotion are splitting ways in the near future. No matter how this volatile situation resolves itself, 3Kings Boxing will be here to report the news.
