Ryan Garcia Makes Quick Work Of Vargas

KingRy impresses in first main event

In the main event from Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California, Ryan Garcia took on Fernanado Vargas in a 10 round Super Featherweight bout. It was Garcia’s first time being in a main event.

Vargas came out fast, trying to put pressure on Garcia and rough him up. Garcia remained calmed and started using his jab and movement.

Vargas was coming straight in attacking the body of Garcia with little head movement and his hands low. Garcia stunned Vargas with a perfect jab straight combination, followed it up with straight and a left hook that floored Vargas.

It was a KO victory at the 2:55 mark of the first round for Garcia who improved to 14-0 with 13 KO’s. A great night for the young lion as he showed extreme patience and poise in there.

Earlier in the night Eddie Gomez (21-3,12KO’s) took on Keandre Gibson (18-2,7KO’s) in a welterweight bout. It started slow with both guys doing a lot of sizing up and not much throwing.

Gibson started pumping his jab through the first round in what was a slow start for Gomez. In the second however right at the beginning of the round Gibson threw a lazy jab and Gomez countered with a straight right that ended the bout.

It was a knockout victory for Gomez at 0:54 mark of the second round.

Notable: Aaron McKenna improved to 2-0 with 1 KO in a first round stoppage of Jose Palacio.
