Ryan Garcia claps back at Dillon Danis
Golden Boy Promotions’ top prospect Ryan “KingRy” Garcia 20-0, 17ko) is at it again, looking to take on mixed martial artist Dillon Danis. This isn’t the first time these two individuals have crossed paths.
THE BACKSTORY
Danis once tweeted about fighting KingRy, to which he replied to the UFC fighter saying:
“Get in line whoever you are.”
If you are wondering why Danis, out of the blue, went after KingRy, well part of the reason could be when the young Golden Boy fighter claimed he would only need one round to knock out the former UFC lightweight champion Conor “Notorious” McGregor (22-4 19ko).
Okay, for those who don’t know, Danis has been a long time training partner of McGregor, going all way back to 2016.
Furthermore, the talented young boxer took to social media with a message for the MMA fighter.
During a live feed interview with ESPN MMA’s Ariel Helwani, the 21-year-old California fighter revealed he didn’t know anything about Danis and thought he was just a fan.
“I have no idea what his beef with me is. He literally started commenting on every video I have and I am like ‘man this guy is a big fan’. I thought he was a fan, I didn’t know who he was. He was tweeting me and I was like ‘who is this guy’.”
“I did a little research and I guess he is Conor McGregor’s little dog, something like that; his little puppy.”
“I would go into an MMA ring with him. I would be that ballsy to do it.”
When asked if he thinks he would be victorious in an MMA bout, Garcia was not at all shy with his answer.
“Yeah, especially against Dillon Danis. That dude is garbage.”
Danis, who was listening, would post a challenge to the young prospect that was read by the interviewer.
“If you beat me in MMA, I’ll retire.”
Of course, KingRy had to respond.
“That’s hilarious! Okay, well then shit, I thought you already retired; I had no clue who you were! So I guess you have a career, so I guess I’ll retire your career.”
