Ryan Garcia To Sue Supplement Companies For Contamination
Popular fighter “King Ry” Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20KO) is looking to sue the supplement company after news of cross-contamination was confirmed. King Ry will still face a suspension as his legal team hopes it won’t be as severe.
The boxing news cycle is buzzing as ESPN has reported the two supplements that Garcia had taken, raspberry-lemonade flavored NutraBio SuperCarb and Body Health strawberry-flavored amino acid blend, tested positive for Ostarine. King Ry’s legal team has maintained that their client never intentionally took a banned substance.
In addition, they claimed he was a victim of cross-contamination. This recent news provides some form of vindication for Garcia, who has maintained innocence.
HE WILL BE ISSUING A LAWSUIT
Although this means the Californian may not have intentionally taken the banned substance, it doesn’t change the fact he benefited from it en route to defeating WBC junior welterweight champion Devin Haney. It means there is still a punishment that will be handed down. According to Garcia’s legal rep, Paul Greene, given this news, a suspension of four months or less should be sufficient.
An angry Garcia took to social media to address the situation by claiming a lawsuit was on the way.
Fans and supporters of Garcia will rejoice as they call for the drug cheat tag to be removed from his name. However, some fans aren’t buying this and feel it’s just a little convenient that his supplements tested positive for the banned substance. Plus, Garcia’s victory over Haney will still be changed to a “no-contest” as these findings prove Ostarine was in his system.
There will be plenty of debate over this within the boxing community over the next couple of weeks as the rollercoaster ride is far from over.
