Shadasia Green Says Shields’ Performances Never Impress
Rivalries are what help make boxing such an exciting sport. It’s something that always gets the attention of the fans and the pundits. A growing feud that is starting to gain some serious traction is the one between top-ranked women’s super middleweight Shadasia “The Sweet Terminator” Green (13-0, 11 KOs) and reigning undisputed middleweight champion Claressa “T-Rex Shields (14-0, 2 KOs).
Green is coming off a unanimous decision win over Erica Curry on August 5 in Dallas, Texas. Shields happened to see the fight and was not impressed. T-Re labeled Green’s performance as low tier and threatened going to super middleweight to fight Green. Hearing about what Shields had to say, The Sweet Terminator took time to respond on social media:
VERY FAMILIAR WITH ONE ANOTHER
The two ladies have known each other for several years, having come up together in the amateurs. In the pro ranks, Shields has become a star in the sport and arguably the top women’s fighter in the world.
But 2023 has seen Green make a mark of her own. In February of this year, she scored a dominant sixth-round stoppage victory over former unified 168-pound champion Elin Cederroos. That win elevated Green to the mandatory contender by the WBA and WBC.
WHO DO YOU BELIEVE?
Some in the boxing community feel Green stands the best chance of defeating Shields. But the current undisputed middleweight champion feels superior to anyone, regardless weight. Shields claims there was an offer for them to fight, but Green turned it down. Green has vehemently denied that claim.
At the very least, it’s becoming clear that need to settle their brewing differences in the ring. But it will be a while before that potential matchup can happen.
Up next for Green will probably be a battle with reigning undisputed super middleweight champion Savannah Marshall. Look for that match to occur later this year or early in 2024.
Were Green to defeat Marshall, the drumbeats will began to bang even louder for a battle between Green and Shields at 168. T-Rex is the former undisputed champion at super middleweight. She would have no problem moving back up in weight, especially if a big payday is involved. If Green and Shields continue on the winning track, a showdown between the two seems inevitable.
