Claressa Shields shifts her attention to UFC champion Amanda Nunes!
Traditionally speaking, when it comes to Claressa “Clarenzo” Shields (9-0, 2 KO’s) listing her position in female combat sports she has been anything but bashful. This proved to be the case once again when TMZ recently requested her opinion of UFC destroyer Amanda Nunes.
Nunes is presently a hot topic due to her July 6 first round, dismantling of former boxer turned MMA fighter Holly Holm. In her fight directly preceding Holms, Nunes tore apart the long time MMA living legend Chris Cyborg.
With the mic and camera in her face, Shields was quick as a gunslinger to say that she was still the GWOAT regardless of anything that Nunes had accomplished. In Clarenzo’s estimation, the professional scalps that she has collected, along with her back-to-back Olympic gold medals, solidifies her as the premiere female fighter in the world.
“She aint been to the Olmpics two times., I been on top of the world twice! I’m not putting myself against Amanda because I like her. We’re both female athletes and I actually praise her like I did Chris [Cyborg]. She is the GWOAT in MMA and I’m the GWOAT in boxing.”
Although, just as swiftly as Shields claimed that she was the best out there, she did slather Nunes in praise.
Shields made sure to say that she openly compliments Nunes and immediately gave her credit following her two recent victories. To take it a step further, Shields clarified that while she would put Nunes to sleep in the boxing ring, she acknowledged that she had no work for the MMA technician inside the cage.
Due to her lack of wrestling ability, the Flint, Michigan native admitted that she would be out of her element staging a dust-up in the octagon. In the end, Shield’s reaffirmed that she was the GWOAT of boxing while, Nunes was the GWOAT of MMA.
