Errol Spence Disputes the Negotiations Tale of Terence Crawford

As inevitably he would, WBA Super, IBF and WBC welterweight champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr (28-0, 22 KO’s) has taken to his social media. The unified champion did this in response to a video clip posted for public dissemination by WBO 147-pound champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (38-0, 29 KO’s). Having pulled the rug from beneath Team Spence, and the boxing public, Bud aired his side of the story out via his own social media. Now The Truth promises that Crawford is full of deception.

Despite Crawford versus Spence Jr. being one of the most clamored for duels in the entire sport, this match has gone unrealized for years. Yet, when they were closer than ever, Bud, 35, abruptly left the negotiation table claiming that his opponents were dealing from the bottom of the deck. In direct opposition, Spence, 32, flat out calls the talking point lies and then dares Bud to post some actual receipts.

WHAT YOU GOING TO DO NOW?!

Unless Crawford can produce some evidence to further support his story, this will be just one more bad look for him. Of course, Bud is one of the most talented specimens lacing up the gloves today, of this there is no question. Crawford already gets a ton of criticism for not having the best competition at welterweight and he is largely viewed as the main impediment to this showdown taking place.

So, to false flag the situation, and get caught in it, would only puncture his public image that much more. His impending cold oatmeal bout with David Avanesyan will certainly do him no favors! For his sake, let’s hope that Bud has some trick up his sleeve to give a bit more weight to his version of events. If not, things could get worse for him still; especially if Spence selects a higher case value opponent than Avanesyan in his next dust up.

If he fought one-time WBA champion Keith Thurman, for example, this could easily throw Crawford into the background. Thurman still is a great opponent, he is still dangerous and their years-long backstory would make for an excellent marketing tool. Also, Thurman is a fantastic salesman. Unlike Crawford versus Avanesyan, Spence versus Thurman would earnestly be highly anticipated. So let’s see if Bud is quick to respond to this return-fire or takes his traditional route and not say much of anything. Either way, 3Kings Boxing will be here to relay the story!
