Shakur Stevenson wants Lee Selby or Josh Warrington next!
After making quick work of Viorel Simion, the young prospect turned his attention to a former and current champion.
In his post fight interview, Stevenson said that he would like to fight Lee Selby or Josh Warrington next. The 2016 silver medalist is ready to be fast tracked to a world title opportunity.
Obviously neither of those fights are likely to happen next, but the possibility of them happening down the road remain. Selby is coming off a decision loss to Warrington where he lost his IBF featherweight title and also mentioned the possibility of moving up the junior lightweight.
As for Warrington he’s getting ready for his first title defense against former two division champion Carl Frampton in a huge fight in December.
While I admire the desire from Stevenson to want to face Selby and Warrington he still needs to fine tune some things before he takes a step up that huge. His Co-Manager and former two division champion Andre Ward has said the same thing.
Expect another step up in competition for Stevenson as he enters his tenth fight as a pro sometime next year.
