Shakur Stevenson Explains The Reason For Gervonta Davis’ Rant
WBC lightweight champion Shakur “Fearless” Stevenson (22-0, 10KO) views arch-rival WBA champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (30-0, 28KO) outburst as a business move. Fearless isn’t worried about fighting in Tank’s backyard.
It all started with a picture of Turki Alalshikh pictured with promoter’s and champion’s, who have participated in Ryidah Season. The WBC champion feeling left out took to social media to vent his frustration.
HE DOESN’T BELIEVE HIS RIVAL IS THAT MAD
In a tweet since deleted the Baltimore native went on the attack.
“Why they didn’t invite everybody, but they invited people they deal with. Fuck out of here … Look at the little rat thinking he came upon something, (Eddie Hearn). Now tell them to fight each other since they have a heavy roster.” – Gervonta Davis
Davis should not be that mad, considering Alalshikh has tried to work with him in the past. Nevertheless, he mocked the fighters for needing to fight in Saudi Arabia to make money.
In an interview with FightHype, Fearless gave an explanation for the WBA champions rant.
“I think that he’s just playing chess. He’s trying to play businessman right now, and I think he would rather fight me in his territory, which is my territory too…that’s the way he wants to fight me. But I’m with whatever situation he wants.” – Shakur Stevenson
A unification featuring Davis versus Stevenson is a fight that needs to happen this year. The back and forth with these two champions have gone on far too long. If both champions defeat their respective upcoming challengers, making the fight should be a top priority providing Davis doesn’t follow through on retiring.
