Suslenkov Makes Joyce Quit In The Eleventh Round
Heavyweight prospect Artem Suslenkov (15-0, 10KO) picked up a victory after forcing once-title contender “Juggernaut” Joe Joyce (16-5, 15KO) to quit in the eleventh round. With this win, Suslenkov will get a boost in the rankings, while Joyce could be headed to retirement.
It was a grueling fight with both men landing hard shots. Joyce fought strongly in the early rounds despite getting hit with repeated right hands. Suslenkov took punishment as well but continued to come on strong with body attacks.
This author had the fight close, going into the closing rounds. However, Juggernaut looked seriously fatigued as his corner was telling him to pick it up. Suslenkov landed a series of punches to the body and head. To everyone’s surprise, Joyce waved his right hand, indicating to the referee that he no longer wanted to continue.

Joyce’s career at this point is over, considering facing an undefeated prospect put him in gatekeeper status. This marks the Brit’s third-straight defeat, and quitting in this fashion normally means retirement is next.
Suslenkov’s stock will only rise from this point, being ranked #10 by the WBA. He will need to generate some buzz outside of his home country, Germany. The undefeated contender needs to travel to other locations and look to challenge someone inside the top ten to build off this huge momentum boost.
