Tyson Fury Should Terminate Any Plans for an Usyk Trilogy
In the latest installment of the ongoing soap opera, Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) is discussing a potential trilogy with the reigning unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs). It’s a move from Fury that’s foolish and nonsensical.
The Gypsy King posted, on social media, plans for a third fight with Usyk while talking about making a comeback. It’s all contingent on Usyk winning the upcoming rematch with IBF belt-holder Daniel Dubois on July 19.
JUST SAY NO
The reaction from many in the boxing community has been full of cynicism and skepticism. Even a fair share of fans from Fury’s own country of England have responded to his announcement negatively.
Fury has lost twice previously to Usyk. The fighter from Ukraine has shown that he has a clear advantage over Fury in terms of boxing skill, power, and, most importantly, mental and physical toughness. There is no indication that the big man from England has what it takes to turn things around in another battle with Usyk.
If everything is fair and even, the reality is that Usyk is the better fighter. Usyk – Fury III is not a matchup that serious boxing fans are clamoring to see. A future Hall of Famer, it would behoove Fury to hang up the gloves for good.
