Katie Taylor Wins Third Fight With Amanda Serrano
In the final chapter of their storied trilogy, undisputed super lightweight champion Katie Taylor handed rival Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano back-to-back losses. With the win, she also made a clean sweep of their three-year, three-fight grudge.
There is a very real possibility that this match is the last time we see the Irish pugilist as a professional. At nearly 40 years old, with roughly ten full years clocked in as a pro, it would not be a surprise if Taylor chose to use this time to bow out and retire from the sport.
While it was anything but a firm confirmation, the undisputed champion gave more credence to the notion that she was exiting the game in her post-fight interview. When asked directly if she was done, Taylor mustered up a half-hearted, “I don’t know.” The paltry response definitely leans toward this being the end of the road.
If the decorated champion did hang up her gloves, she would be well within her right. There is little else for Taylor to accomplish in the sport of boxing. So for the time being, we will have to wait on the official word, but the writing appears to be on the wall already.
