Lani Daniels Upsets Unified Champ Shadasia Green
In her latest tour of duty, Australian fighter Lani “The Smiling Assassin” Daniels (12-4-2, 2 KO’s) upset reigning champion Shadasia “The Sweet Terminator” Green (16-2, 11 KO’s) by way of ninth-round TKO. This was a stunning way of rebounding from her back-to-back unanimous decision losses to Claressa Shields and Sarah Scheurich respectively. Along with Green’s scalp, Daniels collected her IBF and WBO super middleweight titles.
In the aftermath of her victory, the typically jovial combatant was notably melancholy. This was due to the fact that, shortly after the bout was halted, The Sweet Terminator was fastened to a stretcher and rushed from the ring. Consequently, the New Zealand import did not speak much about what her next move would be.
The only other champion currently in the division is WBC and WBA super middleweight champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn (10-3, 2 KO’s). Crews-Dezurn’s last match in the ring was a losing effort while campaigning at heavyweight against unified champion Claressa Shields. Perhaps a fall or late year showdown for all the marbles is a perfect match-up for these two champions!
