Tim Tszyu Prepared to Chase Jermell Charlo Across Divisions!

It’s no secret that Interim WBO super welterweight champion Tim “The Soul Taker” Tszyu (23-0, 17 KO’s) is aching to challenge undisputed 154-pound champion Jermell “Iron Man Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KO’s). After being named as his mandatory challenger, Tszyu was first forced to wait as Charlo healed from a hand injury. Once healthy though, Iron Man signed a surprise contract to jump in weight to face undisputed super middleweight champion Saul Alvarez.

While he has repeatedly expressed his distaste for the situation, Tszyu remains committed to his desire to test his skill versus Charlo. Not only this, in a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, The Soul Taker has made it known that he is now gearing up to pursue Charlo over divisional limits.

“I am going to chase ‘Mel anyway, wherever he goes! If he goes up to 160 or stays at 168, I’m coming up to that division, I want ‘Mel. I said that straight after my fight, I just want that name on my resume. Even for no belts, I’ll fight him for no belts at all. Belts don’t bother me, its just the names on my resume that I want.”

WHAT THINGS MAY COME

While he may be adamant about facing Charlo, there still are a number of hurdles preventing his long delayed showdown. First and foremost, The Soul Taker has to take care of some business in the form of his October 15 duel with Brian Mendoza. If he fails to best Mendoza, then his big prizefight with Charlo will certainly go up in smoke.

When it comes to Charlo though, Tszyu will almost have to be hoping that he loses to the redhead. In the event that Iron Man does come up short, he will more than likely return to 154 to reclaim his titles. If Iron Man defeats Alvarez however, it is almost a guarantee that the Mexican superstar will activate his rematch clause, forcing Tszyu to wait just that much longer. So with all these moving parts, the next month will be full of twists and turns for the Australian bruiser. Luckily, 3Kings Boxing will be here to report all of the latest developments and updates.
