Tim Tszyu Proves Ready to Face Errol Spence by Dominating Nurja

One-time super welterweight champion Tim “Phoenix” Tszyu (27-3, 18 KO’s) picked up a wide shutout decision against Albanian Denis Nurja (20-1, 8 KO) in a middleweight contest. With this win, Tszyu is set for a showdown with one-time unified welterweight champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. next.

Tszyu has now cobbled together back-to-back wins since last suffering a bloody defeat to WBC 154-pound champion Sebastian Fundora in July 2025. Tszyu has beaten moderate competition in Nurja and Anthony Velazquez. However, he has yet to return to the upper echelons of opposition.

Heading into the duel with Nurja, a potential summer clash with Spence Jr .(28-1, 22 KO’s) loomed in the background. Now that he has emerged victorious, the collision with the Texan is in the clear. So long as neither man gets injured, there should be no more significant obstacles to making this fight a reality.

Many throughout the industry view both, Phoenix and The Truth, with a skeptical eye, believing they are damaged fighters. Spence has been out of action since his ninth-round drubbing at the hands of three-division undisputed champion Terence Crawford in 2023.

During the in-ring post-fight interview, Tszyu had a message for Spence:

“You know what they say: catch the big fish. Let’s go fishing.”

Given the mutual rocky nature of each fighter’s career, their collision should make for an interesting affair. Regardless of the victor, it should provide the boxing populace with answers about the future of both fighters.
