Yokasta Valle Vacates WBO 108-Pound Title; Seniesa Estrada Possible in 2023
On November 26, when two-divisional unified champion Yokasta Valle (27-2, 9KO) defeated former unified junior flyweight champion Evelin Bermudez, it set off a chain of events. If things playout for the best, the end result could see Valle face two-divisional champion Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada in 2023.
Prior to Valle’s bout with Bermudez, the governing sanctioning body approved their showdown. In addition, the WBO committee explained that upon being declared the winner, the unified champion would have 10 days to decide in which division to keep the titles.
The WBO took to social media to inform the fans that team Valle has decided to relinquish the junior flyweight titles and will hold the unified titles in the minimum weight division.
The WBO rules prevent a champion from holding belts in two different weight classes. In addition, the Championship Committee must now go through the rankings to see who will fight for the vacant title.
UNDISPUTED WITH ESTRADA IS STILL A POSSIBILITY IN 2023
As of the writing of this article, the IBF has yet to issue a report on the matter. Yet fans can rejoice as Valle’s decision means the fight with Estrada is still on the table.
The two champions have been on a collision course for quite some time. After witnessing her rival defeat Bermudez, Estrada took to social media with a plan to take the IBF title away from Tina Rupprecht. Moreover, she plans on handing Valle her third loss afterward.
