Vasyl Lomachenko Beats George Kambosos By Late Stoppage
In his latest prizefight, three-division champion and lightweight fighter Vasyl “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko (22-2, 11 KO’s KO’s) was able to slide back in the win column in grand fashion. He accomplished this by toppling “Ferocious” George Kambosos (17-4, 11 KO’s) by way of eleventh round technical knockout. With the victory, Lomachenko collected the vacant IBF 135-pound title in the spoils of war.
During early goings of the fight, Kambosos was able to use his feet and target Hi-Tech’s body with good results. For his part, Lomachenko largely took in information and mapped his developing game plan. By the third and fourth period though, the Ukrainian and his famous feet began presenting too big a riddle for Ferocious to decipher. With the coming of the middle rounds, Kambosos was stripped of any meaningful offense.
As a result, the final third of the duel saw Lomachenko circling an overtly confused Kambosos. While swirling, Hi-Tech darted in and out like a school of piranha chewing up Ferocious with a nagging stream of stinging and thumping shots. Now, the tables had been turned as Hi-Tech was also ravaging Kambosos’s body. Having absorbed his fill, Kambosos was dropped twice and ultimately stopped in the eleventh round of their contest. Ferocious was finally stopped with a pair of hooks to the rib cage.
