Frank Warren Mortified by Adeleye and Wardley Public Scuffle
Frank Warren, the CEO of Queensberry Promotions, finds himself disappointed with the recent actions of heavyweights David “Big D” Adeleye (12-0, 11KO) and British champion Fabio Wardley (16-0, 15KO). An altercation between these two domestic-level fighters during the press conference for Tyson Fury versus Francis Ngannou has raised concerns about the future of their potential bout.
Videos of a heated brawl involving Adeleye and Wardley have inundated social media. The clash casts doubt on the anticipated official announcement of their matchup. The scuffle left Wardley with a cut on his left eye, raising the possibility of a postponement.
THE PROMOTER HAS EVERY RIGHT TO BE UPSET
Expressing his frustration with the incident, Warren emphasized the need for professionalism in the sport and the consequences of such altercations to members of the media.
“That’s one of those things, again, where you don’t want boxers doing this stuff. All this nonsense, knocking stuff over, it is not good. I always say if you don’t keep them apart, somebody’s going to get cut, and that’s what happened.”
When asked about the cause of their clash, Warren responded:
“It’s irrelevant. They are professional boxers. You do your fighting in the ring because that’s where you get paid for it!”
Adeleye earned recognition on the amateur circuit and has been identified as a top prospect to watch by 3Kings Boxing. Wardley, on the other hand, is affiliated with Matchroom Boxing. He was most recently in action with a controversial stoppage victory over Michael Polite Coffie on April 1.
The potential delay of this highly anticipated fight has left British fans disappointed. Hopefully the two heavyweights will get to settle things properly sooner than later.
