Cristobal Lorente and Nathaniel Collins Open to a Rematch

Following twelve rounds of competitive action, featherweight fighters Cristobal Lorente (20-0-3, 8 KO’s) and WBO silver featherweight champion Nathaniel “The Nightmare” Collins (17-0-1, 8 KO’s) battled to a split draw. Naturally, this was not the decision that either man was looking for but it’s much better than notching a loss.

Unsurprisingly, both men gave their opponent praise and each was open to staging a rematch. This would not be a bad proposition considering the match was relatively even and entertaining. Ahead of the bout, The Nightmare held the favorable standings of #1 (WBC), #11 (WBO) and #15 (IBF).

If shooting for the moon and the stars aligned, Collins could chase duels with either WBC featherweight champion Stephen Fulton or interim WBC 126-poound champion Bruce Carrington. Honestly speaking though, The Nightmare will likely not have the marquee appeal to lure either adversary in the ring.

The same could ring true for #2 (WBO) and #6 (IBF) ranked Brandon Figueroa. However, there is a chance that Collins could land this duel. On the heels of his action-packed match with Lorente, perhaps blood-and-guts fighter Figueroa may want to take the challenge and branch his fanbase out to a new market. For the time being though, we will all have to wait and see what’s next for Lorente and Collins.
