Former Champ Makes Quick Work In Return
Dejan Zlaticanin returnedtothe ring last night at B. B. Kings Blues Club & Grill on DiBella Entertainment’s “Season’s Beatings” edition of Broadway Boxing.
Zlaticanin, former WBC lightweight world champion, was able to bounce back from a devastating knockout lossto Mikey Garcia earlier in the year. In a bout that lasted less than two minutes hewas simply too much for Heivinson Herrera as hewas able to land his left at will. The referee called a halt to the bout atthe 1:57 mark ofthe first round as Zlaticanin improved to 23-1 with 16KO.
Also in action was Dominican heavyweight prospect George Arias ofthe Bronx. He knocked out Michigan’s Juan Goode in the second round to move his record to 10-0 with 6KO.
In the main event battle of undefeated prospects Wesley Ferrer faced Will Madera. Ferrer came out boxing and fighting behind his jab as Madera triedto get inside an attack. Ferrer was most effective when switchingto a southpaw stance in the middle rounds. Madera however was relentless with pressure in the later rounds. The final scorecards were 77-75 for each guy and 76-76 for a draw. Ferrer goes to 12-0-1 and Madera to 11-0-1.
All in all it was a great night of boxing on the Broadway. Prospects continued to progress and one former champion returned to his winning ways.
