Billy Joe Saunders getting in trouble again
Well it appears that UK bad boy and WBO world super middleweight champion “Superb” Billy Joe Saunders (29-0, 14 KO’s) has just politically shot himself in the foot…yet again. Over the years, Saunders has crafted a well-earned reputation of being a gold star social media knucklehead. And now, Superb is back to dust off his crown!
Following a heated back-and-forth with Chris Eubank Jr (29-2, 22 KO’s) on Twitter, Saunders would kick it up a notch.
The crass jab at his former in-ring foe was vulgar enough to get Saunders’ Twitter account suspended.
A HISTORY OF VIOLATIONS
Once the distasteful post had been deleted, the hold on his account will be lifted. However, the British Boxing Board of Control (BBB of C) would also take issue with the latest crude public stunt. This is doubly shameful for the talented southpaw because his boxing license is already under suspension. Not ironically, this is due to a previous socially tone deaf post.
Back in March, Superb created what he felt was a humorous tongue-in-cheek tutorial instructing disgruntled boyfriends and husbands on how to best knockout their annoying quarantined partners and wives. The ill-advised upload would come with a mountain of criticism for the slick southpaw, alongside the aforementioned suspension.
In 2018, the BBB of C fined Saunders £100,000 for baiting a female drug addict into striking some random passerby. During the same year, Billy Joe Saunders, and some members of his entourage, became involved in a very public and unsightly skirmish with former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and his family.
And earlier in 2020, Superb had his own team members detained by airport security when he falsely reported that they were infected with COVID-19. If there is a boxer who needs to turn his phone off and go sit down for a while, it’s Saunders! It will be interesting to see how heavy-handed that the BBB of C chooses to chastise him this time.
