Canelo Alvarez Is Ready To Take On All Challengers
Undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (59-2-2, 39KO) understands the stakes continue to get high, and the challengers are getting tougher. Canelo welcomes all challengers and is ready to take them on, whoever they may be.
The Mexican mega-star sent boxing media into a frenzy after posting a video that he is returning to the ring under the Premier Boxing Champions umbrella. The boxing community also learned Alvarez signed a profitable three-fight deal with PBC. It seems he had more surprising coming with a bombshell announcement on social media of a fight with undisputed junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo on September 30. This is a major change in direction, as fans believed the frontrunner was Jermell’s twin brother, WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo.
WHAT BIG FIGHT COULD BE NEXT FOR CANELO?
If Canelo is victorious, will another big fight follow? Is the WBC middleweight champion still part of the plan? After turning down $50 million to fight WBC mandatory David Benavidez, will that fight be revisited? Then there is long time rival and two-division champion Demetrius Andrade. What about a Caleb Plant rematch? These are some of the possible fights on the table.
Prior to signing with PBC, Canelo tried to secure a title fight with WBC cruiserweight champion Badou Jack and a rematch with WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol. Those fights never materialized, which could be the reason behind his current trajectory change.
The boxing world could be in for a wild ride. The first step in Canelo’s journey under PBC begins with an undisputed versus undisputed mega showdown.
