Blair Cobbs Looking to Run Through Alexis Rocha
On March 19, welterweight fighter Blair “The Flair” Cobbs (15-0-1, 10 KO’s) will face the challenge of Alexis “Lex” Rocha (18-1, 12 KO’s). It will be a big event for Cobbs as he and Rocha will now constitute the main event bout of the evening. Originally, Vergil Ortiz Jr was going to fight Michael McKinson in the main feature. Those plans were trashed when Ortiz Jr had to suddenly withdraw due to medical malady.
Naturally the high energy, kooky Cobbs was very happy about this shift in dynamics. According to Flair, he is already the big boss of the division, he simply hasn’t been crowned yet. Cobbs, 32, is so confident in himself because of his belief in his skillset.
“I am an all-around professional athlete at this point, I am more seasoned than ever! I am on the next level and I am going to tell you one thing, I don’t have to run! I don’t have to run from nobody at this point. Alexis can throw his big shots, he can say that he is more powerful. He is not stronger than Blair the Flair. Is he fast? He is not faster than Blair the Flair. Is he smart, he is not smarter than Blair the Flair! So, he is in there with an elite athlete, let’s see if he can be in that fire with me”
ALMOST SHOWTIME!
Ultimately though, Cobbs simply can’t see Rocha holding up under the pressure of his attack.
“He gets his ass whipped period! It’s just going to be crazy, what is he going to do? He is going to be running into jabs, running into left hands, running into uppercuts, running into body shots and I think it’s going to be fun and exciting.”
The Flair did extend a small amount of credit to Lex:
“I think he is going to throw a lot of big shots, he might land a few and it’s going to be something! He is definitely not in there to play games. He’s a good fighter, a good contender and I can’t wait to see what happens.”
Given the mountains of big talk that Cobbs has been doing all week, it will be very interesting to see how he handles himself with Rocha.
