Conor Benn Cleared by UKAD to Resume Boxing Career

After a little over one year out of action, welterweight fighter Conor “The Destroyer” Benn (21-0, 14KO‘s) has been cleared to fight by UKAD. Benn was initially buried in controversy when his match against middleweight Chris Eubank Jr. (32-3, 23 KO’s) was canceled after he was flagged for PED’s. From the moment of the findings, up until his exoneration, Benn maintained his innocence. Nevertheless, few believed his claim that the consumption of a staggering amount of eggs was the culprit. Now his promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing, has made the favorable news a public matter.

“Conor Benn has been officially cleared by UKAD and cleared to box in the UK which is a massive moment for him and us. It’s been just over a year since we first learned about these adverse findings and it’s been a brutal, painful year of work and belief and decision to back an individual who we believed in. And I can’t wait to see him fight; That nightmare, that chapter is over!”

LET’S’ DO IT AGAIN?

Now that he has a green light to fight, there is a good chance that The Destroyer doubles back to the duel with Eubank. The two certainly traded enough tough talk and insults in the media, making their would-be battle a fun grudge match for the fans. After their fight dissolved however, Eubank would go on to fight and lose to Liam Smith. As a result, Eubank and Smith are set to stage a rematch this September 2. If victorious, Benn vs Eubank still makes for a very appealing draw.

Unfortunately for Benn, he does not currently reside in the top fifteen of any of the sanctioning bodies. Therefore, who and where he next does battle is a mystery. He could just as easily chuck knuckles in the UK as the US. Undoubtedly though, The Destroyer simply has to get back active. Luckily, 3Kings Boxing will be here to relay all the late breaking revelations and updates on the on-going saga of Conor Benn.
