Keyshawn Davis Down For a Rumble with Floyd Schofield!

In his last tour of duty, lightweight contender Keyshawn “The Businessman” Davis (11-0, 7 KO’s) beat Miguel Madueno by unanimous decision in a very fun fight. Before he could get in the ring however, Floyd “Kid Austin” Schofield’s (17-0, 12 KO’s) father and chief second, Floyd Schofield, publicly called out Davis. This was something that The Businessman is growing tired of. Yet, as he explained to media members, this does not mean that he’s opposed to battling Kid Austin. In fact, that is a rumble that he would welcome.

“Tell Floyd Schofield to get off his son’s page! Every Time I fight, it’s inevitable that he is going to make a post about me right before I fight. This is like his third time doing that, but I would like to fight his son. I just don’t like that his father is doing all the talking. I don’t know if his father want the fight or if his son want the fight. But I would love to fight Floyd Schofield, for sure; it’s a fan-favorite fight and if we can make it happen then we going to make it happen!”

As he mentioned, Team Schofield and Davis have gone back and forth with one another for well over a year at this point. Also as he mentioned this would be a great fight for both lightweight competitors and their fans. At the moment Davis, 25, is ranked #3 (WBO), #3 (IBF) and #3 (WBC), while Schofield, 21, is ranked #2 (WBA) and #13 (IBF).

With Davis coming off his grueling fight against Madueno, it will be interesting to see if he can secure one of the higher profile matches that he’s been fishing for against competition such as WBA 135-pound champion Gervonta Davis or WBO 140-pound champion Teofimo Lopez. If he is not able to nab one of those opponents, then perhaps Team Schofield will get the action that they’ve been looking for. Let’s see what the future holds.
