Will Bivol Vacate Another Title Or Face Benavidez?
If victorious in the trilogy with one-time undisputed light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev, unified champion Dmitry Bivol needs to face WBC champion David “Monster” Benavidez.
Some labeled Bivol a duck after dropping the WBC title to pursue the more lucrative trilogy. Honestly, he should give Beterbiev a chance to win back the titles it’s only fair. Yet, this move prompted the WBC to reclaim the title and elevate Benavidez to full champion status. Several pundits called out the organization for how quickly they ordered unified champion to face the mandatory challenger from Arizona.
It was a well-known fact that after winning the rematch, Bivol was going to face Beterbiev for a third time. For this reason, the majority of the boxing public didn’t consider Bivol’s relinquishing the title as a duck. However, if he wins then there is no excuse for not looking to regain that undisputed status and fight Benavidez.
These two men aren’t strangers as Bivol and Benavidez’s sparring session continues to be a hot topic amongst fans.
