Frank Martin Accuses Shakur Stevenson Of Being A Hater
Top lightweight contender Frank “The Ghost” Martin (18-0, 12KO) accused WBC champion Shakur “Fearless” Stevenson (21-0, 10KO) of being a hater. He believes it bothers Fearless that he is fighting WBA champion Abdul “Tank” Wahid (Gervonta Davis) (29-0, 27 KO).
On June 15, The Ghost will challenge Tank for the WBA title. Stevenson has been trying to fight the Baltimore power-puncher for quite some time only to see Martin get the opportunity. The WBC champion once said that Tank should fight his former opponent, Edwin De Los Santos, whom he feels is a better opponent.
THE CHAMP IS BEING A HATER
While speaking with FightHype, Martin called out Stevenson’s double standard for fighting a guy he recently defeated.
“Why is he facing Artem [Harutyunyan]? How can he say Tank should have fought De Los Santos, a guy he just beat . . . but he’s going to fight a guy I beat. What type of sense does that make?”
He was far from done and went after Stevenson for being mad that he was getting a shot at Tank.
“He’s mad. You know he hating, you know what I mean . . . I got the opportunity he wanted. So it’s just coming from hate.”
There is a history between Stevenson and Martin, as the two were supposed to do battle in 2023. Yet, their fight never materialized as Martin claimed things fell apart over money. The WBC champion responded, stating that the Michigan native’s image took a hit for turning down the fight.
Boxing fans want to see Stevenson and Wahid fight in a unification. It’s a fight that needs to happen to help uplift the sport. However, Martin is no pushover and has the tools to win. Yet, Tank’s power will be the difference maker in their fight.
