Ryan Garcia Announces fight with Jorge Linares
While leisurely cruising along in a car and playing with his phone filters, the immensely popular lightweight boxer Ryan “KingRy” Garcia (20-0, 17 KO’s) announced his next fight. Garcia was just in the ring laying waste to Francisco Fonseca on February 14. On the heels of the fantastic first-round knockout, there were a number of interesting fights that he could have pursued.
In fact, WBC world lightweight champion in recess Devin “The Dream” Haney (24-0, 15 KO’s) jumped in the ring and challenged Garcia to a fight during his post-fight interview for the Fonseca scrap. Although KingRy said he wanted to mix it up with Haney, he clearly was looking to pen that fight later down the line.
THE JOURNEY CONTINUES
Staying true to that sentiment, Garcia has revealed that he will instead be fighting Jorge “El Nino de Oro Golden Boy” Linares (47-5, 29 KO’s) on July 11 at the Staples Center. Linares, who is a former lightweight champion, was also in the ring on February 14 in a one-sided domination win. Now, with the over-matched Carlos “The Solution” Morales (19-5-4, 8 KO’s) out the way, Linares is free to take on the brash young gun.
“What’s up guys, Jorge Linares, yes that is my next fight. July 11 at the Staples Center, don’t miss it! Share it with your friends if you want, just support me on my journey on my quest to shock the world. That’s what I want to do, shock the world this year.” ~Ryan Garcia, lightweight contender
This upcoming bout should make for a good action fight and another barometer for where the ever-advancing Ryan Garcia’s skillset really is at.
