Francesco Grandelli & Sandor Martin Score Early Stoppages

Featherweight Francesco Grandelli (18-2-2, 4KO) picked up a domestic-level European title after taking away Stefan Voda’s (14-1, 5KO) undefeated record.

Grandelli fought like a man possessed in front of the home crowd in Italy. Not known for his power, the Italian went on a power surge, landing powerful right hands early and often that hurt Voda.

After wobbling the Belgium native a few times in round one, Grandelli came out loading up with more of those hard shots. With his opponent against the ropes, he unloaded a barrage of right hands that slumped Voda over the ropes as the referee jumped in to stop the fight.

At the age of 29 years old and unranked, this victory could land him within the top fifteen with one of the four sanctioning bodies.

SANDOR MARTIN OUTGUNS MOHAMED EL MARCOUCHI IN FOUR ROUNDS.

With a possible title shot coming next, WBC #1 junior welterweight contender Sandor “Arrasandor” Martin (42-2, 14KO) made quick work of “Marco” Mohamed El Marcouchi 29-4, 12KO).

This was a different Martin than fans have seen in the past. He came forward extremely aggressive off the front foot, behind the jab. In round two, he landed a pair of left hands that buckled Marcouchi twice. As the round was coming to a close, the Spaniard landed more left hands that dropped Marco to the canvas.

Regardless of his opponent surviving the round, Martin continued to show he was levels above Marcouchi. He introduced a new wrinkle of attack with the left hook. In round four, he landed a barrage of hard shots that put the lesser fighter on the canvas, forcing the referee to wave off the fight.

Immediately following the stoppage, Martin ran to the nearest camera to call out WBC champion Devin “The Dream” Haney. Although this version of the Spanish fighter was impressive, it is worth pointing out that Haney has turned into a different animal.
