Eddie Hearn Sees Conor Benn as a Diminished Fighter at 147

Matchroom Boxing Chairman Eddie Hearn claims Conor “The Destroyer” Benn won’t beat anyone world-class at 147 pounds. He feels The Destroyer should compete at 154 or 160 pounds.

The latest boxing rumor cycle suggests that WBC champion “King” Ryan Garcia will face Benn sometime in August 2026. Given Hearn’s recent comments, it means that his former fighter doesn’t stand a chance against Garcia. This is on par with what everyone has been saying after Benn’s terrible performance against Regis Prograis.

BENN COULD BE IN TROUBLE AGAINST GARCIA

It’s no secret that Benn betrayed Hearn by signing with rival Zuffa Boxing for a lucrative one-fight deal. While speaking with iFL TV , he supported his statement in great detail.

“I will stand by the fact Conor Benn is a good fighter…on that performance, he cannot beat anyone even remotely world class, but I think he’s better than that. I also feel like, 54 or 60, I think he’s much better. I think he’s a shell of himself at 147.”

“I think Conor Benn is a world-class fighter…now, can he win a world title? Can he beat the elite guys? Probably not at 147.”

Hearn made a valid point about Benn’s body looking very weak. This is what happens when fighters drastically cut weight after fighting in a heavier division.

Like him or not, Garcia is a dangerous fighter with speed and power. The Californian feels supremely confident in facing Benn. Hence why he predicted a knockout when they fight. Boxing fans saw a heavily diminished Prograis hit and slightly hurt Benn. Imagine what King Ry’s punches would do. If the fight gets made, the WBC champion will undoubtedly be the odds favorite.
