Eddie Hearn has a List of Big Fights for Anthony Joshua in 2023

After losing the rematch to regain the throne of the heavyweight division, former unified champion Anthony “AJ” Joshua (24-3, 22KO) finds himself in the unfamiliar waters of what to do next. However, Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn has some big fight ideas.

Joshua has been atop the mountain for so long that it is strange he is not involved in the biggest fight – the one to crown an undisputed champion. Nonetheless, back-to-back defeats at the hands of current unified champion Oleksandr Usyk bumped AJ out of the picture for all the marbles.

The boxing community is wondering what big fights come next for the British fighter. There is rumbling among the boxing public about wanting to see Joshua and former WBC champion Deontay Wilder rekindle their rivalry.

THE HIT LIST OF BIG NAMES

Yet, Hearn has a list of fights he believes are important and need to happen. During an interview on the DAZN Boxing show, the British promoter revealed a plan that fans can support, along with his thoughts on AJ versus Wider.

“Honestly, I think that it may be the biggest fight in the division, still. I mean (Tyson) Fury and (Oleksandr) Usyk is a huge fight, but in terms of excitement, AJ/Wilder is right up there. As is AJ versus Dillian Whyte.”

Hearn expressed wanting to get Joshua back in the ring by December or early January to pump out a win before hitting the ground running. Furthermore, he put together a list of fights that he believes are a must for 2023.

“I see the Dillian Whyte as a must-make fight for Anthony Joshua, for the British public. I see Deontay Wilder as a must-make fight, and I also see him fighting Tyson Fury because it’s still a monumental fight for British fight fans.”
